FARGO, N.D. – Minnesota’s Mitchell McKee is one win away.

McKee remains the lone wrestler in USA Wrestling Triple Crown contention after he advanced to the Junior Nationals freestyle finals on Friday night at the Fargo Dome.

McKee pulled out a tough 10-8 win over Oklahoma’s Kaid Brock in the 132-pound semifinals.

McKee won USA Wrestling folkstyle and Greco-Roman titles at the Junior level this year.

McKee advances to face Utah’s Taylor LaMont in the finals. McKee beat LaMont in the Junior Nationals Greco-Roman finals on Tuesday.

The Junior Nationals freestyle finals are set for 10 a.m. Saturday in Fargo.

McKee is one of three returning Junior Nationals freestyle champions who have reached the finals again this year. He is joined in the finals by Jack Mueller of Texas (120) and Austin Assad of Ohio (126).

Mueller will face Cadet World Team member Daton Fix of Oklahoma in the 120-pound finals. Fix won a Cadet Triple Crown here in 2013.

2014 Cadet Triple Crown winner Beau Breske of Wisconsin advances to the finals at 170. Breske placed second in the Junior Greco tournament here this week.

Virginia’s Dylan Wisman rallied for a 16-12 win over Cadet World Team member Owen Webster of Minnesota in the semifinals at 182 pounds. Wisman will meet Junior Nationals champion Nick Reenan of Texas in the finals. Reenan won a Cadet Triple Crown in 2013.

Cadet World silver medalist Jordan Wood of Pennsylvania landed a spot in the finals at 220 pounds.

Larry Early of Illinois stormed into the 152 finals against Evan Wick of California. Early knocked off Cadet World champion Mason Manville of Virginia en route to the finals.

Ohio’s Kevin Vough advanced to the heavyweight finals. Vough won UWW Cadet Nationals titles in freestyle and Greco-Roman in May in Akron, Ohio.

There were 1,140 entries at this year’s Junior Nationals in freestyle, an increase of 76 wrestlers from last year.

The Junior Nationals freestyle finals will wrap up the massive eight-day extravaganza here in Fargo.
