Schwartz, Heinselman, Bravo-Young punch tickets to Cadet Nationals freestyle finals

FARGO, N.D. – Colorado’s Mosha Schwartz arrived in Fargo with one goal.
One very big goal.
To win a coveted USA Wrestling Triple Crown.
Schwartz moved within one win of his lofty goal after storming into the Cadet Nationals freestyle finals on Thursday afternoon at the Fargo Dome.
Schwartz rolled to a quick 47-second fall over Idaho’s Derek Ramos in the 88-pound semifinals. He now advances to face Idaho’s Ridge Lovett in the finals.
Lovett is a past Intermediate Triple Crown winner and was a Schoolboy champion last year. He was fifth in Cadet Greco here earlier this week.
Schwartz captured a Cadet Greco-Roman championship on Monday afternoon at the Fargo Dome. He also won a USAW Cadet Folkstyle Nationals title in April in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
“Winning a Triple Crown is something I really want to do,” Schwartz said. “I have been training really hard for this since I won in Iowa. It would mean a lot to win a Triple Crown since it only comes around once in your lifetime. I’m going to try and get it.
“Wrestling here is so exciting. I love being here. I’ve been waiting all year to wrestle in Fargo.”
Malik Heinselman, Schwartz’s teammate at the Sons of Thunder Academy in Castle Rock, Colo., also reached the finals at 94 pounds. Heinselman will face Michigan’s Rayvon Foley in the finals.
Heinselman is looking to repeat as Cadet freestyle champion in Fargo. Heinselman won a Cadet Greco title here on Monday. He made the U.S. Cadet World Team in freestyle this year.
“We just go back and forth,” Schwartz said of Heinselman. “We help each other so much and push each other so much.”
Indiana’s Andrew Davison had his Triple Crown hopes end in a 13-5 semifinal loss to Wisconsin’s Jacob Raschka at 182 pounds. Raschka is coached by Olympian and two-time NCAA champion Ben Askren.
Davison had won Cadet Folkstyle Nationals and Cadet Nationals in Greco-Roman this year. He beat Raschka 8-3 in the Cadet Folkstyle Nationals finals.
The Cadet freestyle finals are set for 2 p.m. Friday. All the matches will be shown on a live webcast on Flo Wrestling.
Arizona’s Roman Bravo-Young moved within one win of repeating as a double Cadet champion in Fargo. He reached the Cadet freestyle finals against Pennsylvania’s Matthew Parker at 113 pounds.
New York’s Vitali Arujau reached the finals at 126 pounds. His father, Vougar, was a World freestyle champion for the Soviet Union.
Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman champions also looking for doubles titles in Fargo include freestyle finalists Nick Raimo of New Jersey (120), Anthony Artalona of Florida (145), Jacob Warner of Illinois (170), Cohlton Schultz of Colorado (220) and Nicholas Boykin of Tennessee (285).
Cadet Folkstyle Nationals champion Marcus Coleman of Iowa stormed into the Cadet Nationals freestyle finals at 160.
Cadet World Team member Dylan D’Emillo of Ohio advanced to the finals at 100 pounds. D’Emillo placed second at Cadet Nationals in freestyle last year.
Cadet World Team member Gable Steveson of Minnesota also reached the finals at 220 pounds.
