USA Wrestling is excited to announce a series of events in conjunction with United World Wrestling’s Super 8 Campaign and the Women’s Sports Foundation National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Wednesday, February 4.

Free women’s wrestling clinics and inspirational talks will be hosted in three locations across the nation, featuring members of the U.S. Women’s National Wrestling Team. The events will be held in New York City, Los Angeles area and Hood River, Ore.

The Super 8 Campaign was launched to focus on the development of women in wrestling worldwide. This campaign is named appropriately, as there are eight women ambassadors leading this worldwide initiative, including Helen Maroulis, world silver medalist for Team USA and clinician for the Los Angeles event.

“I am extremely humbled that I was chosen for this initiative. It is incredible to be alongside seven other great women who are serving the same cause. I am really passionate about women’s wrestling and being a female wrestler. I am also very passionate about promoting the future of women’s wrestling. This campaign really speaks to me about all of that,” said Maroulis.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD), held in conjunction with the Women’s Sport Foundation, is devoted to recognizing the progress of girls and women in sports, and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women. Congress has proclaimed this national day each year since 1987. Game On!, this year’s theme, will focus on what schools can do to protect all student-athletes. To learn more, visit www.NGWSDCENTRAL.com.

All wrestlers – both male and female – are welcome to attend the events. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just someone interested in trying the sport for the first time. These events start with a technique clinic. It concludes with inspirational messages of what wrestling has done in the lives of these elite athletes and what it can do for any girl or woman who participates in the sport. There will be plenty of free posters for autographs by the athletes. USA Wrestling’s generous corporate partner ASICS has provided free gifts for event participants that will be handed out on a first-come basis.

All participants are encouraged to commit to bringing a female friend to learn more about the sport of women's wrestling. #eachonebringone #super8
