Final five U.S. women wrestlers get draws for UWW Cadet Worlds in Bosnia-Herzogovina

SARAJEVO, Bosnia- The final five U.S. women’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received draws for the 2015 UWW Cadet World Championships on Friday. This event features the world’s best 15-17 year old wrestlers.
All of the American wrestlers on this year’s UWW Cadet World Team are competing in their first World Championships.
2015 U.S. Junior Nationals champion Gracie Figueroa of California will compete at 52 kg, with 2015 Junior World champion Leyla Gurbanov of Azerbaijan as her first opponent.
Vayle Baker of Pennsylvania opens up at 38 kg in Sarajevo against 2015 Asian Cadet bronze medalist Rumi Fujisawa of Japan Baker was a Cadet champion and Junior runner-up in Fargo.
A pair of 2015 Cadet National champions will wrestle on Friday, Alleida Martinez of California at 46 kg, and Ashlynn Ortega of Colorado at 60 kg.
Martinez will face Florenta Diaconu of Moldova in her first match. Ortega has drawn Wiktoria Choluj of Poland in the opening round.
Alexis Bleau of New York opens her competition at 70 kg/154 lbs. against 2013 Cadet World silver medalist Mei Shindo of Japan.
The United States stands in third place in the team standings behind Japan and Russia after the first day of women’s freestyle action. Two Americans won medals on Wednesday, gold medalist Ronna Heaton of South Dakota at 49 kg/108 lbs. and bronze medalist Kayla Marano of Tulsa, Okla. at 65 kg/143 lbs.
