Flowrestling will kick off its newly established professional wrestling league, the Flo Premier League, with a highly anticipated matchup between past NCAA standouts Chris Perry and Robert Hamlin at the Snake Pit on the campus of Lehigh University this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. (EDT).
Perry won his second straight NCAA championship for the Oklahoma State Cowboys this March and followed that up with a silver medal performance at the University World Championships in July.
A two-time NCAA runner-up for Lehigh University, Hamlin will wrestle on his home turf once again as he squares off against Perry at the Snake Pit.
The two have met once before, in the 2011 NCAA quarterfinals, with Hamlin emerging the victor by a 4-2 decision. The win sparked Hamlin to his first NCAA finals berth.
The loss to Hamlin is one Perry has not forgotten, and he hopes to get his revenge on Saturday.
“Anyone who has ever beat you at the NCAA tournament, it becomes personal. You are going to remember that for the rest of your life,” Perry said. “October eighteenth I feel like I am going to make a statement. It’s not just another match. It’s a big match.”
Hamlin is also eager to face Perry once more and back up his prior victory over the two-time NCAA Champion.
“He is a very aggressive wrestler, very technical and hard to score on,” Hamlin said. “I’ve gotten better. I’ve improved technically and am in better shape. I’ve beat him once before and I’ve got nothing to lose, so I’m just going to go out and wrestle. I’m not planning on losing.”
Perry and Hamlin will square off under a new set of hybrid rules that combine both aspects of freestyle and folkstyle wrestling. The rules include three three-minute periods, two-point takedowns, one-point pushouts, two-point reversals and both two and three point exposures.
The Hamlin vs. Perry bout will be featured alongside Flowrestling’s Who’s #1 dual featuring many of the top high school stars in the U.S.
Among those competing in Who’s #1 are 2014 Cadet World Champion Mark Hall, 2013 Cadet World bronze medalist Cade Olivas and Fargo champions Daton Fix, Mitchell McKee, Larry Early, Isaiah White, Myles Martin, Zahid Valencia, Bobby Steveson and Hunter Ritter.
Tickets are available for purchase to this event both on site and online at the Lehigh University Ticket Office.
Flowrestling will provide a live stream of this event on its Flo Pro platform.
