First four U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers get draws for CISM Military Worlds in New Jersey

FORT DIX, N.J. - Four U.S. Greco-Roman wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws for Sunday’s competition at the CISM World Military Wrestling Championships at Joint Base McGuire – Dix – Lakehurst, in New Jersey,


Two-time Olympian SGT Spenser Mango of the U.S. Army opens at 59 kg against two-time CISM World Military medalist Vugar Ragyumov of Ukraine. Mango placed fifth at the World Championships in both 2013 and 2014.


Another member of the 2014 U.S. World Team, 1stLt Bryce Saddoris of the U.S. Marine Corps, will compete at 66 kg in Greco-Roman. Saddoris opens against Anil Kumar of India, a 2012 Dave Schultz Memorial International champion. Saddoris was an NCAA Div. I All-American for the U.S. Naval Academy.


West Point graduate CPT Jon Anderson of the U.S. Army is entered at 75 kg, where he opens against Ahmed Abdou Omar Abdou of Egypt. Anderson was second at the 2014 U.S. World Team Trials.


At 71 kg, Sgt Joseph Foreman of the U.S. Marine Corps will battle Angelo Rafael Marques Moreira of Brazil, who was second in the 2013 Copa Brasil.


2012 Olympian and two-time World bronze medalist SGT Justin Lester of the U.S. Army qualified for the team at 71 kg. Lester trained for the event and made the scratch weight today. An injury kept him out of the lineup, and he was replaced by Foreman.


“We have three very strong guys tomorrow. We have two current World Team members in Spenser Mango and Bryce Saddoris, and we have a World Team alternate in Jon Anderson. I hope they get going early and keep it going,” said U.S. coach Shon Lewis.

59 kg – SGT Spenser Mango, U.S. Army

Vs. Vugar Ragymov (Ukraine), 2nd in 2007 CISM World Military Games, 3rd in 2008 CISM World Military Championships, 10th in 2009 and 2011 World Championships


66 kg – 1stLt Bryce Saddoris, U.S. Marine Corps

Vs. Anil Kumar (India), 2012 Dave Schultz Memorial International champion


71 kg – Sgt Joseph Foreman, U.S. Marine Corps

Vs. Angelo Rafael Marques Moreira (Brazil), 2nd in 2013 Copa Brasil, 3rd in 2013 South American Championships


75 kg – CPT Jon Anderson, U.S. Army

Vs. Ahmed Abdou Omar Abdou (Egypt)
