The 2014 Northwest Bigfoot Battle is almost upon us and adrenaline is running high! On November 21-22 some of the nation’s most skilled wrestlers will come together in Spokane, Washington to compete for a title at one of only five Folkstyle Tour of America events this season.
"The Bigfoot Battle has quickly become the best wrestling event held in Spokane. Numbers grow each year and it is on pace to be the largest wrestling event held here,” said Craig Hanson of the Viper Wrestling Club. “Not only has it been good for Spokane, but it has been good for the region as well. This tournament draws well from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana as well as other states.”
In 2012 the tournament had nearly 700 participants and in 2013 that number jumped to over 900. Based up the yearly growth, and with the registration being capped at 1,000 competitors, it’s looking like there will be a full tournament this year.

The CEO of Spokane Sports Commission, Eric Sawyer, told us, "Each year, Spokane is proud to be home to the Bigfoot Battle. This record-breaking tournament continues to build and strengthen our local wrestling community by allowing our local athletes to compete against talent from all across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. In Spokane, wrestling is essential to our sports culture and we are committed to the sport’s growth and long-term success."
There were already up to nine states represented in the preregistration and the numbers will not stop there. Satellite weigh-ins are being held in La Grande, Oregon; Kennewick, Washington; Butte, Montana; Post Falls, Idaho -and Thompson Falls, Montana.
