FINAL DAY: Phase I World Team Trials wildcard application deadline is Monday, May 12

Senior athletes who are interested in applying for wildcard positions for the Phase I U.S. World Team Trials events must get their petition information submitted by Monday, May 12 at 5:00 p.m. Central time.
Submit the following information to Cody Bickley at cbickley@usawrestling.org
• Name
• Weight class
• Major Accomplishments that have been included in previous years
• Wins against nationally ranked opponents
• The reason why they should be considered and why they have not yet qualified.
These are for positions in the U.S. Freestyle World Team Trials for men and women in Madison, Wis., May 31-June 2, and the U.S. Greco-Roman World Team Trials in Daytona Beach, Fla., June 13.
In men’s freestyle, there are up to six wildcards (one per weight) in the six Olympic weight classes contested in the Phase I World Team Trials.
In Greco-Roman, there is a maximum of two wildcards for the entire U.S. World Team Trials in Phase I. They can be selected from any of the weight classes.
There are no wildcards in women’s freestyle.
The selections of wildcards will be made by the National Coach, with approval from the wildcard committee in each style.
Athletes in all three styles can still qualify for the World Team Team Trials by competing in the Northern Plains Senior Regional Championships in Waterloo, Iowa, May 8-10.
Greco-Roman athletes who meet age-group requirements may also qualify for the Greco-Roman World Team Trials at the University Nationals in Akron, Ohio, May 22-25.
Athletes are reminded not to rely on the wildcard process, and attempt to qualify by competing.
The announcement of the wildcards for Phase I World Team Trials in both men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman will be made on Wednesday, May 14th.
Wildcards for the two non-Olympic weights in both styles will be requested and announced at a later date.
