The honors and recognition continue to roll in for David Taylor.
Taylor, the Big Ten Male Athlete of the Year and Penn State Athlete of the Year, has been nominated for a prestigious ESPY Award. He is nominated in the category of Best Male College Athlete.
Taylor has had a memorable 2014. He won the Hodge Trophy for the second time after winning his second NCAA title and leading Penn State to its fourth straight NCAA team title.
Voting for the ESPY Award ends July 16, with ESPN scheduled to broadcast its annual sports awards show that evening from Los Angeles.
Rulon Gardner, Cael Sanderson and Anthony Robles are wrestlers who have won ESPY Awards.
Taylor has now turned his attention to the international level. He placed second behind Olympic and World champion Jordan Burroughs at the 2014 U.S. Open and U.S. World Team Trials in freestyle wrestling.
Taylor is a member of the U.S. Senior National Team for the second straight year. He won a bronze medal for the U.S. at the 2013 World University Games.
