The depth of the 75 kg/165 lbs. weight class in the Greco-Roman division in the U.S. can perhaps only be paralleled by the tough 59 kg/130 lbs. class.

From World Championship veterans to exciting youngsters, 75 kg/165 lbs. will feature it all at the 2014 Greco-Roman World Team Trials in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Andy Bisek (Chaska, Minn./Minnesota Storm) has emerged as the class of 75 kg/165 lbs. since making his second World Team last year. Bisek won the U.S. Open in April with a 3-1 victory over Jon Anderson (Fort Carson, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP) in the finals. Since competing at the 2013 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary last September, Bisek has earned four gold medals in international competitions including the Granma Cup, Dave Schultz Memorial International, Haavisto Cup and NYAC International. He also boasts a bronze medal from the 2013 S.A. Lavriko Greco-Roman Championships held in St. Petersburg, Russia last December.

Anderson, U.S. Army WCAP veteran, poses a strong threat to Bisek’s run at the top of 75 kg/165 lbs. The U.S. Open runner-up, Anderson utilizes a relentless style, constantly pushing the pace until the final whistle. Anderson was also runner-up to Bisek at the 2013 World Team Trials in Stillwater, Okla.

Young gun Geordan Speiller (Oviedo, Fla./Florida Jets) has emerged as a top competitor at this weight class in 2014. Speiller took Bisek down to the wire in the semifinals of the U.S. Open in a 10-7 thriller. In 2014, Speiller has finished in third place at the U.S. Open and Dave Schultz Memorial International.

Jake Fisher (Saint Paul Minn./Minnesota Storm) will look to improve upon a fourth place-finish at the U.S. Open, where he lost close matches to both Anderson and Speiller. Fisher wound up in second place at the 2014 Dave Schultz Memorial International with his lone loss coming to Bisek, 5-0.

Tanner Andrews (North Aurora, Ill./NYAC/USOEC) will be in the mix at 75 kg/165 lbs. after earning a bronze medal at the NYAC International last November. Andrews owns a win over Fisher from the NYAC tournament.

2014 U.S. Open champions at the non-Olympic weights of 71 kg/156.5 lbs. and 80 kg/176 lbs. Justin Lester (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP) and Kendrick Sanders (Homestead, Fla./NYAC/USOEC) are eligible to compete in this weight class, but it remains to be seen if they will elect to enter the competition.

The World Team Trials for the non-Olympic weight classes will be contested in July in Fargo, N.D.
