FARGO, N.D. – An action-packed, two-session day kicked off the Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman wrestling competition on Sunday at the Fargo Dome.

There are 802 wrestlers representing 46 states competing on 23 mats in the Cadet Greco competition in Fargo.

With the first of two days of Cadet Greco complete, there are eight wrestlers still eligible to win a coveted USA Wrestling Triple Crown.

Those wrestlers still in the running for Triple Crowns include Arizona’s Jason Holmes (88 pounds), Michigan’s Ben Freeman (113), Ohio’s Corey Shie (126), California’s Jaden Enriquez (126), Wisconsin’s Devin Bahr (138), Illinois’ Jacob Warner (160), Wisconsin’s Beau Breske (170) and Minnesota’s Keegan Moore (182).

Breske is a returning Fargo champion in Cadet Greco. Holmes competed in the Cadet World Championships for the U.S. last week.

Those wrestlers have each reached the semifinals. Those wrestlers won Cadet Folkstyle Nationals titles earlier this year in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The third leg of the Triple Crown, the Cadet Nationals freestyle tournament, will take place later in the week in Fargo.

2013 Cadet National Greco-Roman champion Austin Gomez of Illinois (113) also has reached the semifinal round.

2014 Cadet World Team member Drew West made the semifinals at 106.

Illinois leads the team race with 39 points and 13 wrestlers in the semis. Ohio is second with 18 points and Wisconsin third with 15.

The Cadet competition resumes at 9 a.m. Monday with the finals set for 2 p.m. in Fargo.
