For the second time this season, Rider (6-1) picked up a criteria victory over a Top 25 program. On Sunday, Rider topped then-No. 10 Lehigh (6-2) 17-16 at Grace Hall in Bethlehem, Pa. Earlier this season, Rider became the first Division I program to win a dual decided by the fourth criteria -- first takedown -- in a 20-19 win over Wisconsin.
The loss dropped Lehigh from No. 10 to No. 12 in this week's USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll released on Tuesday. Pittsburgh (4-2) jumped back into the Top 10 despite losing to Lehigh earlier this season. Virginia moved up a spot to No. 11. Rider made the biggest move, jumping up four spots to No. 18.
No new teams entered the Top 25 this week.
The first nine teams in the Top 10 remained static as Minnesota, Iowa, Cornell, Penn State, Missouri, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Nebraska and Oklahoma State stayed put at spots 1-9.
Northwestern (8-1) survived a scare over the weekend from unranked Princeton at the Windy City Showcase. The Wildcats got a major decision from three-time All-American Mike McMullan at heavyweight to fight off the Tigers' upset bid. Princeton was the top vote-getting team not in the Top 25 this week.
