Dominique Bradley withdraws from U.S. World Team Trials

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - Dominique Bradley, the top-ranked American freestyle wrestler at 120 kg., has withdrawn from the 2013 U.S. World Team Trials while he attempts to resolve his April 19, 2013 positive drug test at the U.S. Open for the stimulant methylhexaneamine. Dominique took an over-the-counter supplement that he did not realize contained this substance, as have many U.S. athletes in all sports over the past several years. In fact, Dominique Bradley is at least the 12th United States athlete to test positive for methylhexaneamine in a 2-year period, according to United States Anti-Doping Agency ("USADA") records.

Dominique Bradley commented as follows:

"While I am very disappointed that I will miss this year's World Team Trials, I did not want my situation to be a distraction to my teammates or to USA Wrestling. I have therefore made the difficult decision to withdraw from the World Team Trials, while I try to resolve my case with USADA. I hope to be able to return to competition as soon as possible, and to represent my country proudly in the future. I would like to apologize to USA Wrestling, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and to my family and friends for my mistake, but I promise I will not let you down in the future."
