Reno Tournament of Champions to feature strong college and high school fields, Dec. 20-22

Every young wrestler grows up dreaming of getting their hand raised on the podium. They watch their heroes and want to be like them. Wrestle like them. Win like them. Be a Champion like them. 

Since the inception of the RTOC, there have been multiple Olympians wrestle in the tournament, including Gold Medalists Jake Varner, Cael Sanderson, Brandon Slay and Henry Cejudo. 

During this year's tournament we may be watching the next Olympian, World Champion or NCAA Champion compete to get his hand raised on the podium. 

This year marks the 19th Annual Reno Tournament of Champions and features a two-day high school tournament on Dec. 20-21 followed by a one-day college tournament on Dec. 22. Ticket prices are $15 per day for the high school tournament and an additional $15 for the high school finals. The college tournament ticket prices are $20 all day.

Each year, the RTOC prides itself in hosting one of the toughest tournaments in the U.S. for both high school and college wrestlers. This year is no different as we are working on hosting some of the best athletes from Coast to Coast to compete for a tournament title.

This year, more than 100 teams from high school and college will compete against the nation’s best in what is dubbed the “Toughest Tournament in the U.S.A."

Look for high schools such as Maple Mountain, Vacaville, Poway and Easton to contend for tournament titles. Both Poway and Easton have each won multiple tournament titles, with Poway looking to capture its third title in the last four years. 

In the college tournament, the Nebraska Cornhuskers make a return trip after more than a decade of not coming to the tournament. Look for Head Coach Mark Manning's Huskers to make a run at the tournament title. 

Mark Branch's Wyoming Cowboys will also look to make a run at the tournament title, making it his second tournament title in the last four years.

The college tournament also doubles as an open tournament. So you will see a number of future All-Americans, Conference Champions and NCAA Champions wrestle against the some of the nation's elite college wrestlers.
