AKRON, Ohio -- Dustin Kilgore has made major gains in his wrestling since winning an NCAA title for Kent State in 2011.
Kilgore took an Olympic redshirt during the 2011-12 school year and has been training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He has placed in a number of international events in freestyle.
Kilgore is competing at the University Nationals this weekend, just down the road from where he competes collegiately. The Ohio native placed third in this event last year.
Kilgore is competing in the University Nationals on Saturday and Sunday at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. He won his first two matches on Saturday to reach the quarterfinal round.
He plans to return for his senior year in college during the 2012-13 school year.
