Herbert won a World silver medal in 2009 and has continued to excel this season. He beat Bryce Hasseman in a close match in the finals of the U.S. Open.

Herbert now advances to the best-of-3 final-round series for the World Team Trials on June 11-12 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Herbert will face the winner of the Challenge Tournament for the World Team spot.

Hasseman, second to Herbert in the 2009 World Team Trials, remains the top challenger to Herbert. Hasseman is very strong and difficult to score on, and has enjoyed his share of success against Herbert in the past.

David Bertolino has made significant gains in this division. He now trains at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and placed third at the U.S. Open.

Chris Perry, coming off a redshirt season at Oklahoma State, is a top young star to watch in this weight class. The 2009 and 2010 Junior World Team member placed fourth in the Open.

Two-time NCAA champion Chris Pendleton also can't be counted out here. Pendleton has had a strong season before being upset at the Open by Penn State NCAA All-American Quentin Wright.

Past NCAA champion Keith Gavin is now wrestling in this weight class full-time after competing at 74 kg/163 lbs. last season. Gavin beat Wright in the fifth-place match at the Open.

Past NCAA All-American Brandon Sinnott was seventh in the Open.

Past NCAA All-Americans Raymond Jordan and Doug Umbehauer also are wrestlers to watch in this class.

NCAA champion Max Askren and NCAA runner-up Kirk Smith both received wild cards to the Trials.
