Chamberlain, Perry, Johnson to go for bronze medals at Junior World Championships in Hungary

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Three members of the U.S. men's freestyle team at the Junior World Championships will be going for bronze medals at the Syma Arena on Sunday night.
Competing in the bronze-medal rounds are Jason Chamberlain (Springville, Utah/Bronco WC) at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Chris Perry (Stillwater, Okla./Gator WC) at 84 kg/185 lbs. and Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Bobcat WC) at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
Chamberlain opened with a victory over Yun-Han Lee of Korea, 1-0, 5-1. Chamberlain scored a takedown in the first period, then added two takedowns and an effective tilt exposure to dominate the second period.
He was beaten in his second match, a three-period battle with Kotaro Tanaka of Japan, 2-2, 2-2, 0-3. When Tanaka qualified for the gold-medal finals, Chamberlain was pulled back into the repechage rounds.
Chamberlain won two repechage matches to qualify for the bronze-medal bout, stopping Lennard Wickel of Germany, 0-1, 3-1, 2-1 and Mirbek Adbydaev of Kyrgyzstan, 1-0, 1-0. He will face Anton Afansyeu of Belarus in a bronze-medal match.
Chamberlain, who competes for Boise State, is on his second straight U.S. Junior World Team. He did not place last year.
Perry opened with three wins. In the first match, he beat Ville Tapani Heino of Finland, 2-0, 2-0. Heino was seventh in the 2009 Junior World Championships. His second win was over Ilya Xamikoyev of Azerbaijan, 1-0, 0-2, 1-0. He followed with a victory in the quarterfinals over Grigorios Kriardis of Greece, 2-0, 1-0.
He was defeated in a competitive semifinal match by Ibrahim Bolukbasi of Turkey, 2-0, 1-0. Perry will face Attila Szmik of host Hungary in a bronze medal match.
Perry, who competes for Oklahoma State, placed fifth in the 2009 Junior World Championships.
Johnson had two strong wins to start the day, beating Bincho Dinkov Stoyanov of Bulgaria, 2-0, 2-0 and Ihar Dziatko of Belarus, 2-0, 1-0. He was defeated in a competitive semifinal bout by Taha Akul o Turkey, 0-1, 0-3.
Johnson, who competes for Ohio University, has drawn Giorgi Sakandelidze of Georgia in a bronze-medal match.
Ryak Finch (Safford, Ariz./Arizona Heat WC) lost to 2010 Asian Junior silver medalist Nomin Batbold of Mongolia in the first round at 55 kg/121 lbs. Batbold was able to score takedowns and exposure points in each period. When Batbold was defeated in the quarterfinals by Rasul Mashezov of Russia, he was not able to qualify for the repechage.
Finch, a Junior Nationals double champion in 2009, is a graduated senior who will be attending Iowa State.
