No U.S. medals on final day of Yasar Dogu International in Turkey

ISTANBUL, Turkey - Both U.S. freestyle wrestlers who competed at the Yasar Dogu International on Sunday dropped their matches and fell short of the medal rounds.
At 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Corey Jantzen (Shoreham, N.Y./Lehigh Valley AC) finished with an 0-2 record. He lost in his first match to eventual runner-up Emin Azizov of Azerbaijan, then was eliminated in the repechage rounds by Yakup Gor of Turkey.
At 96 kg/211.5 lbs., Bryce Hasseman (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) fell in his opening bout to Salih Erinc of Turkey, who finished third. When Erinc did not qualify for the finals, Hasseman was not eligible for the repechage.
The U.S. won no medals in the three-day event. The top U.S. performance was Les Sigman's fifth-place finish at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. on Saturday.
"It was the third tough day in a row for the U.S. wrestlers," said Assistant National Freestyle Coach Bill Zadick. "We will now go on to Ukraine, where we hope to have better results next weekend."
