The UNI wrestling team, in conjunction with the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum, will be hosting throwback night for the Feb. 14 dual against North Dakota State. All fans are encouraged to dig out their classic 70s clothing and dress up as we remember the 1970s!
The dual meet will be held at 2 p.m. in the historic West Gym on the Northern Iowa campus.
UNI will host the throwback night as part of their longstanding rivalry with North Dakota State. The Panthers and Bison have met 17 times on the mat, with UNI holding a 14-2-1 advantage over the Bison.
UNI will attempt to recreate the atmosphere of the West Gym during the 1970s, as the Panthers were a combined 124-46-1 during the decade, including 55 dual wins in the historic West Gym. The Panthers captured a Division II national championship twice while placing in the top ten every year during the decade.
The Panthers will also wear throwback singlets that will be auctioned off following the dual. More information on purchasing match-worn throwback singlets can be found at www.unipanthers.com.
