Russia wins European Championships women's freestyle title

BAKU, Azerbaijan "" Russia won the team title in women's freestyle wrestling at the 2010 European Championships in competition which ended Friday.
Russia had two individual champions, Lorisa Oorzhak at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. and Lubov Volosova at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. Russia had individual medalists in six of the seven weights, with two golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
Ukraine, with no individual champions and two medalists, placed second with 38 points. The top Ukrainian performance was a silver from Kataryna Burmistrova at 67 kg/147.5 lbs.
Bulgaria, led by champion Stanka Zlateva at 72 kg/158.5 lbs., was third with 34 points. Azerbaijan, with individual champions Sona Ahmadli at 59 kg/130 lbs. and Nadeshda Sementsova at 67 kg/147.5 lbs., was fourth with 33 points.
Other individual champions were Sofia Mattsson at 51 kg/112.25 lbs. and Anastasija Grigorjeva of Latvia at 55 kg/121 lbs.
Of the champions, Zlateva is the most decorated with three World titles (2006-08). Mattsson was a World champion in 2009.
The final style to be contested at the European Championships this year is Greco-Roman, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
