The U.S. Olympic Committee has announced its Twitter voting is now open for March Male & Female Athletes of the Month.
Fans are encouraged to vote and re-tweet the poll links.
Representing USA Wrestling are freestyle wrestler Tervel Dlagnev, women's freestyle wrestler Tatiana Padilla. Both won gold medals on international tours during March and had strong performances at the World Cup events in their style. USA Wrestling is also nominating the 2010 U.S. Women's World Cup Team for the USOC Team of the Month, after its strong second-place finish at the Women's World Cup.

Athlete: Tervel Dlagnev
Position: 120 kg/264.5 lbs. in freestyle wrestling
Dlagnev had strong performances competing in major international competitions in March at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
He went 4-0 at the Freestyle World Cup, the international dual meet championships held in Moscow, Russia, March 6-7. The event featured the top eight teams in the world.
Two of his wins were against top international stars. He defeated 2009 World silver medalist Fardin Masoumi of Iran, 0-3, 3-0, 3-0, and then defeated Asian champion Ali Isayev of Azerbaijan, 0-2, 1-0, 3-0. Other wins were over Oleg Kalegov of Uzbekistan and Ruslan Sheikov of Belarus.
He wrestled in a pair of exhibition dual meets during a Russian tour, splitting his bouts. He won his dual meet against a top Russian opponent in Vladikavkaz on March 9, then dropped a close bout to past World champion Bilal Makhov in Nalchik on March 10.
Dlagnev also won a gold medal at the Medved International in Minsk, Belarus on March 13. He won five straight matches, including a victory in the gold-medal finals over Alan Tsarikaev of Russia, 0-3, 1-0, 2-0. Other wins were over Dmitrijs Mihailovs of Latvia, Oleg Ivanov of Ukraine, Aleksei Shemarov of Belarus and Kirill Gotovtsev of Russia.
Dlagnev was a 2009 World bronze medalist and is currently ranked No. 1 in the United States.

Position: 55 kg/121 lbs. in women's freestyle wrestling
Padilla had a strong effort at two major international competitions during the month of March.
She won a gold medal at 55 kg/121 lbs. at the Klippan Lady Open in Klippan, Sweden on March 9. Most of the world's top women's wrestling teams attended this traditionally strong event.
She had a 4-0 record at the tournament, including a victory over Chiho Hamada of Japan in the finals, 0-1, 1-0, 7-5. Her other victories were against Justyna Czyzak of Poland, Helen Maroulis of the United States and Renata Omilusik of Poland.
She also had a strong performance at the Women's World Cup in Nanjing City, China, March 27-28. This is the annual international dual meet championships, featuring the top eight teams in the world.
Padilla won her first three bouts of the tournament, helping lead the USA to victory in its pool competition. She defeated 2009 World champion Yuliya Ratkevich of Azerbaijain, 2-0, 4-0. Other wins were against Iryna Khariv of Ukraine and Altantuya Namsrai of Mongolia. In the championship dual, Padilla lost her only bout of the event against Lan Zhang of China. The United States placed a strong second in the World Cup this year.
Padilla has been on the last two U.S. World Teams, winning a World bronze medal in 2008 and placing fifth in the world in 2009.

The USA dominated its pool competition, winning all three matches handily and earning a spot in the championship dual meet. The U.S. defeated 2009 World champion Azerbaijan, 6-1, then also defeated Mongolia 6-1 and Ukraine 5-2.
Winning bouts against Mongolia were Medina, Padilla, Rix, Pirozhkova, Gray and Bernard.
Against Ukraine, winners were Lampe, Padilla, Rix, Pirozhkova and Bernard. In her match at 67 kg, Gray was injured and lost by injury default, and could not compete the rest of the tournament.
In the match against Azerbaijan, alternate Campbell was inserted into the lineup and entered up a weight class at 63 kg. In addition, Pirozkhova was moved up a weight class to 67 kg. The U.S. still won six of seven bouts, with wins from Lampe, Padilla, Rix, Campbell, Pirozhkova and Bernard.
The championship match was against host China, and was much more competitive than the final 6-1 win by the Chinese team. The lone U.S. winner was Bernard. The U.S. lost four matches that were very close, including close three-period losses by Campbell and Pirozkhova competing up a weight class.
Ranked sixth coming into the event, the U.S. had a tremendous performance in placing second in the most important international dual meet championship of the year.
