The New York Athletic Club International wrestling tournament will take place over two weekends this year instead of one.

The Greco-Roman competition is scheduled for Nov. 15 in New York City, with the freestyle and women's competition scheduled for Nov. 22.

Top wrestlers from the United States, along with international competitors from a number of other countries, are expected to compete in this top annual event.

The Greco-Roman competition is being held a week earlier this year to allow U.S. wrestlers a chance to compete in overseas events in Finland and Sweden the following two weekends.

"The New York AC International traditionally is one of the biggest international events of the season, and this year is no exception," said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling National Events Director. "We are looking forward to seeing another very talented field competing in this event in all three styles."

South Korea and Uzebekistan are expected to have athletes competing in Greco-Roman while Japan is expected to send athletes here to wrestle in freestyle. Canada will have athletes competing in all three styles as well.

The event is sponsored by the New York Athletic Club, Metropolitan Wrestling Association and USA Wrestling.

A series of international freestyle duals also are going to be held around the time of the New York AC tournament, including duals in New York, Chicago and Iowa. More information will follow in the next few days on www.themat.com

The Chicago Cup, a dual-meet event, is scheduled for Nov. 15. It will be the third time for this event.
