The life of an aspiring Olympic hopeful might not be all the glitter and glam that one is led to believe. It takes hard work, persistence, and in at least one certain case, a love for the sport matched with a novel idea.

Consider Nate Gallick a former NCAA Champion for Iowa State, a U.S. Nationals Champion, and a third place finisher in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. It is Nate Gallick's goal to win an Olympic gold medal, and with a resume like that, it would appear as if Gallick is capable of accomplishing his goal. He does have a plan for the future; it just might not be the "typical" route most would take.

The move back to Ames set Nate's future wrestling success up for a brighter future. He will have access to Iowa State head coach Kevin Jackson, an Olympic freestyle champion and past USA Wrestling National Freestyle Coach. Top freestyle contenders Trent and Travis Paulson train there. Being alongside his younger brother is an added bonus, since Nick also plans to compete in freestyle once his college career is over.

"It was a pretty easy decision for me to move. Between the coaching staff, my brother, and the Paulsons, the quality was raised," said Nate Gallick

Younger brother Nick contributed one fresh idea in today's ever-growing internet shopping community. With the tight economy and Nate's switch from being a paid assistant wrestling coach at Tennessee-Chattanooga, to his move back to his alma mater in Ames, Iowa as an unpaid assistant at Iowa State University, he needed to find some extra income.

Thus was born the online shopping comparison website ShopZig.com
http://www.shopzig.com

"The idea came from my brother," said Nate. "My brother does a lot of on-line shopping. He has come across different sites, and has found you can get some great deals. Why not try to make a site that combines multiple sites and is user friendly?"

After doing some research on potential costs and necessary traffic, and utilizing Nick's finance major background, the Gallicks were able to make a dream become a reality.

"Simple search, extraordinary results" is the motto of this newly established site. Shoppers can find anything from sports equipment and outdoor gear, such as an outdoor tent from Eureka, to electronics and a 32 inch LCD high definition television from Panasonic. Users can even find a pair of zebra striped rain boots at the convenience of their home, without having to brave the malls.

With the fast approaching holiday season right around the corner, the brothers have also set up a "gift registry" link. The link provides shoppers with another unique way to put together their holiday wish lists.

However, with a strong plan and increasing amounts of visitors daily, the brothers remain grounded about their new idea.

"It may take some time but if it does catch on and get popular, the website could really help," said Nate.

As they wait for ShopZig.com to develop and grow, Gallick and his younger brother have other help and ideas.

Since Nate's return from Tennessee, the brothers fell right into a similar situation they found themselves in while both were attending classes at ISU.

"We lived together when I was at Iowa State," said Gallick. "We also have a third roommate, which helps with the cost. The situation with Nick and I works out well because he is one of my best friends and is also one of my best workout partners," said Nate.

The aspiring Olympian is quick to thank all those who have helped his dream slowly turn into a reality.

"The Cyclone Wrestling Club, the Sunkist Kids, and USA Wrestling all have helped fund and contribute to my training and my daily living," said Gallick. "It is important to acknowledge them because without their generosity I would not be where I am."

Although it may not be the easy, always the fighter, Nate will continue to find ways to make ends meet while supporting training and competition to become and Olympic gold medalist.

Always the seller, Gallick is quick to give a final sales pitch to those potential shoppers out there.

"If you're already shopping on-line, use our site to save time, money, and help contribute to our Olympic dreams," said Nate.

With all his hard work it seems as if those Olympic dreams are not as far off as they may appear.
