Elementary and Middle School divisions see five repeat champions at the 2009 Body Bar Women’s Nationals

The 2009 Body Bar Women's National Championships brought girls in third through eighth grades together at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., for tough competition. Five champions from 2008 repeated their performance.
Repeat champions in the 3rd though 6th grade divisions include Gabrielle Garcia of California at 69-75 pounds. Champions wrestling in a new division (7th though 8th grade) from last year include Julia Long of Wyoming at 85-95 pounds, Steffanie Hampton of Michigan at 94-105 pounds, and Kiera Gabaldon of Oregon at 108-120 pounds. The lone returning champion in the 7th through 8th grade division was Sarah Lambert of Virginia at 135-149 pounds.
Garcia, Long and Gabaldon also took national titles at the 2009 USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle National Championships in Oklahoma City in March.
Other champions who won at the Girls Folkstyle Nationals and Body Bar Nationals include Juliana Baker of Oregon at 83-85 pounds and Alyssa LaFrancis of California at 96 through 104 pounds. In the 7th-8th grade division, Marina Doi of California took the title at 62-65.
Not only were friends wrestling in the tournament, family was also. Twins Marina and Regina Doi of California competed against each other. Last year, Regina claimed the national title.
Competition went alongside the FILA Cadet and FILA Junior tournaments.
