USA Wrestling was honored by the U.S. Olympic Committee for excellence in marketing with its innovative "Fuel the Dream" fundraising campaign.

According to the USOC NGB Market News for January 2009, USA Wrestling was one of the 10 unique and creative NGB Marketing initiatives for 2008.

The publication noted the following:

"USA Wrestling's fundraising campaign 'Fuel the Dream,' which assisted families of athletes traveling to Beijing, hit New York City following the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Las Vegas. Members of the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Team completed almost 25 hours of interviews with over 30 media organizations including the New York Times, CNBC and Telemundo. U.S. Olympic Team members also made appearances at the New York Stock Exchange, the Sports Museum of America, and a media lunch at Foley's New York, where the restaurant unveiled a sandwich dedicated to the team, with a portion of the proceeds going to 'Fuel The Dream.'"

"'Fuel the Dream' accomplished two very important things. It allowed support to bring the athletes' families to Beijing and it brought a significant amount of media to focus on our great sport and athletes," said Larry Nugent, Director of Development for USA Wrestling.

"Our athletes were very successful in winning the media using their personalities and personal ethics," Nugent said. "That's going to support future fundraising efforts and media exposure."

USA Wrestling wants to thank all of the supporters who helped these fantastic athletes' dreams come true and participated in "Fuel the Dream!"
