The U.S. Greco-Roman World Team will travel to Poland for a major competition and additional preparation for the World Championships in Denmark in September.
The team will wrestle in the Pytlasinski Tournament in Myslowice, Poland, Aug 15-16.
This tournament allows the Greco-Roman team to be back on the mat and face quality opponents prior to the World Championships.
National Greco-Roman Coach Steve Fraser said this tour is good to see where the athletes stand.
"The Poland tour will help the team learn where they currently are in skill, and help them come back and focus on what needs improvement," said Fraser. "Poland is a very tough tour. My hopes are high and I think this will be a good test."
Six of the seven World Team members will be competing in Poland. The six World Team athletes are Spenser Mango at 55kg, Jeremiah Davis at 60kg, Faruk Sahin at 66kg, Charles Betts at 84kg, R.C. Johnson at 96kg, and Dremiel Byers at 120kg.
Also competing at 60kg is National Team member Joe Betterman.
"Most of these athletes haven't competed since June," said Fraser. "This competition is a good way to get the cobwebs out and see what the team needs to focus on."
