Esai Dominguez among 7 champions crowned at Northern Plains Regional Olympic Trials in Greco-Roman

WATERLOO, Iowa - Past Junior Nationals champion Esai Dominguez earned a spot in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials with a victory in the Northern Plains Regional Olympic Trials on Friday.
Dominguez knocked off Kerry Regner 1-1, 1-1, 4-0 in the Greco-Roman finals at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. Dominguez, who redshirted at the University of Nebraska at Omaha this past season, was one of seven champions crowned on Friday.
The seven champions from Waterloo each qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, set for June 13-15 in Las Vegas.
The remaining Greco-Roman champions crowned on Friday also included Nate Engel at 55 kg/121 lbs., Chad Vandiver at 60 kg/132 lbs., Kevin Lozano at 74 kg/163 lbs., John Wechter at 84 kg/185 lbs., Jeff Funicello at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. and Max Lossen at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
The Northern Plains Regional Olympic Trials conclude on Saturday, with competition in freestyle and women's freestyle. Wrestling is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Central Time.
