Dallas, Texas (March 28, 2008)- Dallas Dynamite, a Texas-based, non-profit wrestling organization, announced the purchase of one of the nation's top wrestling websites, InsideTexasWrestling.com (ITW). Terms of the sale were non-disclosed.
The Dynamite board members, a group of former outstanding college and Olympic wrestlers, formed a high school and youth wrestling club and are involved in other wrestling functions. They have plans to organize and run tournaments, and now they are moving into the internet arena to expand the group's sphere of influence.
Dallas Dynamite purchased ITW from founder John Rizzuti. Rizzuti, Chris Drake (Webmaster), and former contributor Shaun Shaikh started the site in 2003. The three founders studied the market and discovered it was wide open for a site that concentrated on high-quality editorial and breaking news, high school wrestling information, and reader entertainment.
Dallas Dynamite's management, who will be directly involved in the running and enhancing ITW, include former Oklahoma State University wrestlers Ty Wilcox and Jamill Kelly (Olympic Silver Medalist), the University of Oklahoma's David Kjeldgaard as well as Olympic Gold Medalist and two-time NCAA runner-up from the University of Pennsylvania, Brandon Slay. Slay and Rizzuti have maintained both a business and personal relationship since 1999. Rizzuti was Slay's business agent and PR manager for several years.
Jamill Kelly will handle the day-to-day operation of ITW. Former owner Rizzuti will stay involved with the site in a limited capacity as "Contributing Editor" and will handle breaking news stories and columns on an infrequent basis.
The Dynamite team has many new ideas they will use to enhance the site and to expand the current audience. The site will immediately expand coverage to include youth wrestling and summer competition in Freestyle and Greco-Roman.
ITW had in excess of 80,000 unique daily visitors in February making it one of the largest state sites in the country. Rev Wrestling's Justin Kerr called ITW, "The gold standard for state wrestling websites."
