Cadet Nationals freestyle competition kicks off at Fargo Dome

FARGO, N.D. - The 2008 Junior and Cadet Nationals are just over the halfway mark as the freestyle competition opened in Cadet Nationals on Wednesday morning at the Fargo Dome.
2007 Cadet National champions who are looking to repeat this year are Hayden Zillmer of Minnesota (84), Carson Kuhn of Utah (91), Hunter Stieber of Ohio (98) and Chris Phillips of Ohio (171).
Zillmer won a Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman title earlier this week at 91 pounds. Zillmer was a USA Wrestling Triple Crown winner in 2007.
Zillmer opened with a win in freestyle at 91 pounds.
Kuhn won his first two matches at 105 pounds.
Stieber won his first two bouts at 112 pounds.
Phillips started with a win at 171 pounds.
Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman champion Aaron Runzo of Virginia dropped his first-round match at 119 pounds. Montana's Cullen Buckley scored a 1-0, 1-2, 1-0 win over Runzo on Wednesday morning.
The second session for Cadet Nationals in freestyle is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Junior Nationals freestyle competition will start on Thursday.
The tournament runs through Saturday at the Fargo Dome.
