Brent Lofstedt, 47, a two-time NAIA National Champion for Southern Oregon, passed away Wednesday, July 2 at a Roseburg hospital following complications from a stroke.
He is also the father of current SOU Wrestler three-time All American, Trevor Lofstedt, as well as incoming freshman, Mitchell Lofstedt. He also leaves behind his wife, Dorene and daughter Rebbecca.
The wrestling communities of Barlow H.S., Roseburg, Mt. Hood Community College and Southern Oregon are also left behind with this loss.
Brent's wrestling career set the standard for achievement at SOU (SOSC) becoming the first wrestler to win Back to Back (82' and 83') National Championships. Brent was a captain of 1983 National Championship team while receiving the Outstanding Wrestler award for the championships. His legacy will continue to have an impact on the program for many years to come.
