USA Wrestling will host a World Dual Meet in women's freestyle between the USA and Germany at Doherty High School Wednesday. The event will also feature wrestling between local high schools Doherty and Wasson.
The event also includes competition between local Metro League rivals Doherty and Wasson. The schedule for the evening is junior varsity wrestling at 6 p.m., USA vs. Germany at 6:30 p.m., and the varsity match-up at 7:30 p.m.
The line-up for the World Dual Meet set for this Wednesday, January 30 is:
- 48 kg/105.5 lbs. Amantha Hordagoda (USA) vs. Nicol Hofmann (Germany)
- 48 kg/105.5 lbs. Rachel Bernardes (USA) vs. Nicol Hofmann (Germany)
- 51 kg/112 lbs. Clarrisa Chun (USA) vs. Alex Engelhardt (Germany)
- 55 kg/121 lbs. Trinity Plessinger (USA) vs. Katharina Peter (Germany)
- 55 kg/121 lbs. Cherea Pascua (USA) vs. Jessica Bechtel (Germany)
- 59 kg/121 lbs. Chelynne Pringle (USA) vs. Natasha Ballas (Germany)
- 67 kg/147.5 lbs. Othella Lucas (USA) vs. Maria Mueller (Germany)
- 67 kg/147.5 lbs. Tori Adams (USA) vs. Maria Mueller (Germany)
Top athletes for the U.S. include Chun, a four-time U.S. Nationals runner-up and 2000 world team member, Pavlik, who placed fifth at the 2001 World Championships, and Pirozhkov, who finished second at the 2007 World Team Trials and was a 2005 University National Champion.
Highlighting the German line-up are Bechtel, who was fifth at the 2006 Senior World Championships, Engelhardt, a fifth-place finisher at the 2007 Senior World Championships, Mueller, who finished third at the 2006 Senior World Championships, and Schaetzle, who came in third at the 2005 Senior World Championships.
Prices for entrance into the event are $5 for adults, $2 for students with athletic passes, and $1 for senior citizens.
The Doherty Stomp Team will also be performing at 6:20 p.m.
