NEWS FLASH: Adam Wheeler wins Olympic bronze medal at 96 kg

Adam Wheeler (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC) won the first Olympic medal for the United States in wrestling, taking the bronze at 96 kg in Greco-Roman wrestling on Thursday night.

Wheeler defeated Han Tae-Young of Korea in the bronze-medal match, 3-1, 4-1. More details to come.

Bronze medal match - Adam Wheeler (USA) dec. Tan-Young Han (Korea), 3-1, 4-1

First period - Wheeler worked on Han's head but was unable to get an opening. No takedown
Reverse lift 1 - Ball is red. Wheeler is down. Han goes for a gut wrench but can't move Wheeler. One point to Wheeler for defending. 1-0
Reverse lift 2 - Wheeler is on top. Wheeler goes for a high gut wrench. He turns Han for two points, and Han reverses him for one point. 3-1 Wheeler

Second period - Both wrestlers work on the head and pummel with no openings. No takedown
Reverse lift 1 - Ball is blue. Wheeler on top. Wheeler goes for gut wrench. Han defends and then stands up. One point to Han for defending, 1-0.
Reverse lift 2 - Wheeler down. Wheeler defends against a left and gets a reversal for two points. He gets an additional point for defending, 4-1 for Wheeler.
