FILA NEWS: Martinetti re-elected; FILA approves eight new nations

MARTINETTI (SUI) RE-ELECTED FILA PRESIDENT

BEIJING, August 10 - Rafael Martinette (SUI) was re-elected President of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) by acclimation on Sunday at the Landmark Hotel in Beijing.

Martinetti, who was first elected FILA President in 2002, will serve a six year term.

In the election for FILA Bureau members, Tomiaki Fukuda (JPN), Csaba Hegedus (HUN), Mikhail Mamiashvili (RUS), Akhroldjan Ruziev (UZB) and Tzeno Tzenov (BUL) were elected.

FILA APPROVES MEMBERSHIP FOR EIGHT FEDERATIONS

The International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) on Sunday approved requests for memberships from eight national wrestling federations, bringing FILA membership to 164.

Federations approved for FILA membershipe were Barbados (BAR), Cayman Islands (CAY), Monaco (MON), Montenegro (MNE), Hong Kong, China (HKG), Singapore (SIN), Seychelles (SEY) and Rwanda (RWA).

FILA, meeting for its general assembly in Beijing, turned down requests for membership from Kosovo and North Cypruse, pending a decision by the International Olympic Committee on recognition for those federation's National Olympic Committees.
