The Romanian National Greco-Roman team will compete in the Greco-Roman portion of the matches in the international wrestling dual meet in West Orange, N.J. on Thursday, November 15.

They will be replacing the Russian Greco-Roman team, which was originally scheduled to face a team from the famed New York Athletic Club in the competition.

The Russian freestyle wrestling team will still compete against the New York Athletic Club in the dual meet showdown, and has named its final roster of athletes.

The match will be held at West Orange High School in West Orange, N.J., starting at 7:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door, $20 for adults and $15 for kids.

The top athlete on the Romanian team is three-time World bronze medalist Eusebiu Diaconu, who competes at 60 kg/132 lbs. His most recent World bronze medal came in 2007 in Baku, Azerbaijan. He was also the 2007 European champion.

Four other members of the 2007 Romanian World team are also on the roster for this trip: Virgil Munteanu at 55 kg/121 lbs., Ionel Puscasu at 66 kg/145.5 lbs., Stefan Cristian Rusu at 74 kg/163 lbs. and Catalin Surugiu at 84 kg/185 lbs.

1998 Junior World champion Claudiu Florin Gavrila, who competes at 55 kg/121 lbs., is also among the Romanian athletes.

As Romania does not have a super heavyweight on this tour, the spot will be filled with Yannick Szczepaniak from France, who placed fifth at the 2007 World Championships and was sixth at the 2004 Olympic Games.

Russia also provided its final lineup in freestyle, from its preliminary roster. The Russian freestyle lineup is headlined by 2005 World champion Alan Dudaev at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. Also on the roster is veteran star Ramil Islamov at 60 kg/132 lbs., a two-time World medalist, two-time Olympian and Espoir World champion.

In Greco-Roman, the USA placed first in the 2007 World Championships, while Romania placed 12th.

In freestyle, Russia placed first in the 2007 World Championships, while the United States was fourth.

A total of $14,000 in prize money will be given to winners, with $1,000 awarded to the winner of each match.

At least five of the seven members of the 2007 World Champion Greco-Roman Team from USA Wrestling will be competing in the dual meet. Included will be 2007 World silver medalist Brad Vering (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 84 kg/185 lbs. and 2007 World bronze medalist Dremiel Byers (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) at 120 kg/264.5 lbs.
