Head Coach Pat Pecora and his Mountain Cat wrestling team raised their record to 3-0 to start the 2002 season with a convincing 35-9 victory Wednesday night in the Sports Center. Red-shirt freshman heavyweight Zach Majocha (Upper Burrell, Pa./Burrell H.S.) got the night started with a fall over John Beeman at 3:21 and the Mountain Cats never looked back. Thad Benton (133 lbs.) (Claysburg, Pa./Claysburg-Kimmel H.S.) picked up a fall over Sonny Phillip at 4:37 and senior All-American Randy Pyle (174 lbs.) (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area H.S.) added another fall at 5:17 over Walter Hayde. Sophomore Matt Roncolato (149 lbs.) (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury H.S.) won by technical fall, 23-7, with back points as time expired in the third period. Jason Nestor (141 lbs.) (Transfer, Pa./Reynolds H.S.) and Craig Hight (165 lbs.) (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro H.S.) both won by decision for Pitt Johnstown. All three Mountain Cat losses were hard-fought matches. Ryon Mazzocco (125 lbs.)
