Central Michigan's Faustman and Ohio's Carrizales share MAC Wrestler of the Week honors

Central Michigan's Brett Faustman (197 lb., So., Mason, Mich.) and Ohio's Anthony Carrizales (133 lb., Fr., Delta, Ohio) share this week' s Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week honors. Faustman registered an upset in the Chippewas' win over Ohio, defeating No. 11 Dan Bednar, 8-6, who was also the MAC's top wrestler at 197 lbs. and also the defending league champion. Carrizales, meanwhile, was 2-0 last weekend notching a non-conference win and a MAC victory. The freshman notched a 9-5 decision over North Carolina's Brad Byers, the ACC's two-time runner-up and NCAA qualifier, and then had an 8-3 victory over Central Michigan's Jordan Webster, the MAC*s No. 2 wrestler at 133 lbs. Other Nominees For This Week*s Award: Buffalo's David Guarino (165lb., Sr., Derby, N.Y.) went 5-0 last week with a pair of technical falls at the New York State Collegiate Championships to win his weight class. He helped the Bulls to a third-place finish. Eastern Michigan's Mike Feeney (174lb., Sr., Scioto, Ohio) notched his 29th win of the season with a pin over Eastern Illinois' Louis Taylor at 4:57. It was his 16th pin of the year and the fifth win via pin in his last seven matches. Kent State's Zeb Miller (197lb., So., Martin, Ohio) was 3-0 last week for the Golden Flashes with a pair of pins. Won an overtime match against Northern Illinois* Greg Reardon (2-1), then pinned wrestlers from Baldwin-Wallace and Franklin & Marshall. Northern Illinois* Scott Owen (157lb., Jr., Carlsbad, N.M.) went 2-0 for the Huskies, pinning Kent State's Mark Lensman at 3:24.
