Jaclyn McNichols selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Jaclyn McNichols (Ft. Worth, Texas/King University) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Jan. 20, 2021.
A junior at King University, McNichols put together an outstanding performance over the weekend at the Tornado Duals. Competing at 101 pounds, McNichols, who entered the weekend ranked No.4 in the country, collected wins over the nation’s Nos. 1, 2 and 3 wrestlers.
In her first dual, she edged out No. 2 Angie Gomez of Emmanuel with a 3-2 win. She followed it up with a decisive 5-2 victory over No. 3 Jennesis Martinez from Colorado Mesa. In the final dual against No. 2 McKendree, McNichols recorded a 4-1 decision against top-ranked Pauline Granados.
McNichols performance helped No. 4 King to a 2-1 record in the duals, including dual wins over No. 3 Emmanuel and No. 7 Colorado Mesa.
Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.
