Jennifer Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC) has been selected as TheMat.com Athlete of the Week on Jan. 19, 2016.

Page went undefeated on the weekend at the Guelph Open in Guelph, Canada to earn the gold medal at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. She picked up victories over two Canadian foes, Jessica Brouillette of Brock WC and Temitope Oqunjimi of Dinos WC, to take the gold.

The U.S. women, led by Page, sent a strong team to Guelph that captured five medals overall.

In December, Page was runner-up at the U.S. Senior Nationals and Olympic Trials Qualifier held in Las Vegas, Nev. During her run to the finals she topped last year’s World Team representative at 63 kg, Erin Clodgo, 4-0 to solidify herself as a top threat come the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Page was runner-up at the U.S. World Team Trials last year at 60 kg/132 lbs.

Among her many credentials include winning the 2014 U.S. Open, being a two-time University Nationals champion and earning a bronze medal at the 2013 Junior World Championships.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

To nominate a wrestler for USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week please send the athlete’s name, wrestling program and weekly and career accomplishments to Richard Immel at rimmel@usawrestling.org.
