Ian Miller named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week
by Craig Sesker USA Wrestling
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Miller scored a pair of stunning and spectacular falls in a combined 68 seconds to sweep Tyler Caldwell in the University Nationals freestyle finals on Sunday afternoon in Akron, Ohio.
Miller took two straight bouts at 74 kg/163 lbs. from Caldwell, a two-time NCAA runner-up who finished third at last month’s U.S. Senior Open.
Miller won his second University Nationals title after also winning this event in 2012.
Miller placed fourth at the 2014 NCAA tournament as a sophomore for Kent State.
Note: To nominate a wrestler for TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week, send the athlete's name, accomplishments for the week and career accomplishments to Craig Sesker at csesker@usawrestling.org
