Nick Moore (Iowa City, Iowa/University of Iowa) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
The fifth-ranked Moore knocked off No. 2 Tyler Caldwell to lift No. 3 Iowa to a 24-6 win over No. 5 Oklahoma State on Friday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.
Moore scored a takedown in overtime to earn a 3-1 victory at 165 pounds. Caldwell has placed second, third and fifth in the NCAA tournament.
Moore, a junior, was an NCAA qualifier in 2013. He was a four-time state champion in high school and won a Junior Nationals title in freestyle wrestling.
