Logan Stieber (Monroeville, Ohio/Ohio State University) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Stieber won a battle of returning NCAA champions by defeating Oklahoma’s Kendric Maple 6-4 in overtime at 149 pounds in the NWCA All-Star Classic on Saturday night.

Stieber scored a reversal in the first tiebreaker period before riding Maple out in the second tiebreaker to earn the win in a dual held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.

The match was tied 4-4 in regulation after each wrestler scored a takedown and a pair of escapes.

Stieber moved up a weight class to wrestle Maple in the dual. Stieber, a junior, has won two NCAA titles at 133 and is moving up to 141 this season.

Maple is moving up to 149 after winning NCAAs at 141 last season.

Stieber is a past Junior World silver medalist for the U.S. in freestyle. He placed third at the 2013 U.S. Senior World Team Trials.
