Oliver named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for May 19-25

Jordan Oliver (Easton, Pa./Gator WC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for May 19-25

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.

Oliver won the title at 60 kg/132 lbs. at the FILA Junior World Team Trials in freestyle wrestling in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 23.

Oliver, a 2009 FILA Junior Nationals champion, won the championship series in two straight matches over two-time Junior World Team member Tyler Graff (Loveland, Colo./New York AC). Oliver won the first match 2-0, 1-0 and the second match 2-0, 2-0 to sweep the series. He has qualified to represent the USA at the FILA Junior World Team Trials in Ankara, Turkey, August 4-9.

Oliver is a freshman who took a redshirt year at Oklahoma State Univ. while Graff took a redshirt year as a freshman at the Univ. of Wisconsin this year.

Oliver also won the University Nationals title this spring at his weight class, and will compete at the World Team Trials, presented by the U.S. Marines, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, May 30-31.
