Nick Baumgartner, a native of Iron River, Mich. and a state champion wrestler from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, with his teammate Lindsey Jacobellis, claimed a gold medal for Team USA in the debut of mixed team snowboard cross at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 on Saturday.

Baumgartner, at 40, is the oldest member of the U.S. team in Beijing, and is competing in his fourth Olympic Games. This is the second gold medal for Jacobellis in Beijing, who won the women's individual gold medal earlier in the Games.

USA Wrestling celebrated Baumgartner's success in his other sport career with an article on TheMat.com about his extensive wrestling background prior to the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

The story, written by Matt Krumrie, explains the Baumgartner family involvement in wrestling, details about his wrestling career, as well as how wrestling has helped in his life and athletic career.
