The Scarlet Knight Wrestling Club announced yesterday that coach Jeff Buxton will take over as the head coach for the club.

Buxton was previously the head coach at the Lehigh Valley Wrestling Club since 2012, where he has been the personal coach for many U.S. National team members. In 2019, he was named the coach of the U.S. Freestyle World Team, which competed in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

Before coaching at Lehigh Valley, Buxton was one of the nation’s top high school coaches at national power Blair Academy in New Jersey. During his time there, he won 30 National Prep team titles.

For many years, Buxton was active in USA Wrestling’s New Jersey state association, coaching with Team New Jersey at the USMC Junior and Cadet Nationals, helping coach numerous national champions and All-Americans. He also served on the New Jersey Coaches Council.

On the mat, Buxton was an NCAA qualifier for the University of Rhode Island and a New England Conference champion. He received USA Wrestling’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 and is a member of the Rhode Island Hall of Fame.
