NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa – The final day of the 2026 U17 Pan American Team Trials featured six wrestlers winning their second title in as many days at The Palestra.

After winning Greco-Roman titles on Friday, Rylen Wax, Lucas Forman, Evan Restivo, Copper Mathews, Justus Heeg and Salah Tsarni all came back on Saturday to win championships in men’s freestyle.

U15 Pan American champion Wax capped off the day going 2-0 at 45 kg, where we collected an 18-6 technical fall in the semifinals. For the title, Wax collected an 11-2 decision.

Forman had a high-scoring day during his run to the title at 48 kg. He scored double figures in each match, highlighted by a 12-6 decision in the championship match.

At 51 kg, two-time U15 Pan American champion Restivo shutout his opponents in freestyle and only gave up three points over the two days. En route to his two championships, Restivo outscored his opponents, 73-3. In his championship bout, Restivo notched an 8-0 victory to finish the weekend.

Heeg and Tsarni teched their way to the championships in the 71 kg and 92 kg, respectively. Two-time age-group Pan American medalist Heeg posted three-straight shutout technical fall wins before collecting a 14-3 victory in the finals. Tsarni had back-to-back 10-0 wins to start the day, then won a 17-6 affair to win gold at 92 kg.

Mathews rounded out the double champions on Saturday, earning a hard-fought 5-4 decision at 60 kg. Prior to the finals, Mathews’ first three wins of the day came via technical fall.

After injury defaulting in the finals on Friday to finish second in Greco-Roman, U17 World medalist Michael Rundell came back on Saturday to win the 55 kg freestyle bracket. In the first-place contest, Rundell secured gold with a 12-3 decision.

Two-time U15 Pan American champion Thomas Banas stormed to the title at 65 kg after missing out on a medal in Greco-Roman. In the finals, Banas avenged one of his losses in Greco-Roman and earned a 6-2 decision.

The lone round robin bracket on Saturday was at 110 kg, where Eaghan Fleshman went 2-0. He capped off the day with a pin just 13 seconds into his final bout. Fleshman finished with a pair of medals following bronze in Greco-Roman.

Kobe Cunanan was the final freestyle champion crowned after he won via injury default at 80 kg. Cunana finished the day going 3-0, including a 12-2 technical fall in the semifinals.

All ten of the U17 Pan American Team spots for Greco-Roman and freestyle will be announced following a verification process by USA Wrestling’s National Teams department. More information about the U17 Pan American Team selection process can be found here.
