2025 World Championships Day Six Match Notes

The 2025 Senior World Championships continue on Thursday from Arena Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia. Today will feature women’s freestyle group three (53-62-68-72 kg) repechage and medal matches, plus Greco-Roman group one (55-77-82-130 kg) preliminary rounds. Updates and results from each Team USA match can be found below.
10:30 a.m. – Qualification Rounds (GR 55-77-82-130 kg), Repechage (WFS 53-62-68-72 kg)
4:30 p.m. – Semifinals (GR 55-77-82-130 kg)
6 p.m. – Medal Matches (WFS 53-62-68-72 kg)

Double leg for Blades and she drive Cavusoglu Tosun out-of-bounds at 5:22 to take a 1-0 lead. Cavusoglu Tosun is put on the shot clock at 4:16. The clock expires for an added Blades point. Blades gets back to that shot from space and is able to drive to a finish this time. It’s 4-0 Blades. Cavusoglu Tosun presses to the edge and Blades circles in and shoots her off the mat with 4 seconds left in the period. It’s 5-0 Blades as we head to the break. Great mat savvy from Blades and she gets another step out, kept contain on Cavusoglu Tosun as she tried to circle in, 6-0 Blades. This time it’s Cavusoglu Tosun on the board with a step out, 6-1 at 2:10. Blades gets physical with a collar tie, snap, taking Cavusoglu Tosun to the mat and pouncing for another takedown, 8-1. More incredible body positioning and mat awareness from Blades. She counters Cavusoglu Tosun pressure and whips her to her back going off the mat. It’s 10-1 in the final minute. Re-attack single leg for Blades to get a 12-1 tech with 37 seconds remaining. The best she looked all tournament.
Front headlock, go-behind takedown for Azizli and he’s up 2-0 early. Azizli converts a gut to extend the lead, 4-0, at 4:42. Raney is called for passive and put down, now trailing 5-0 at 4:04. A low gut for Azizli converts to make it 7-0. The officials confer and the score drops back to 5-0, likely due to offensive leg foul. The score sits at 5-0 Azizli at the break. Raney pressing the action to start the period. He gets a chance on top at 1:48, now on the board at 5-1. Raney is unable to get anything going from top and we return to standing with 1:18 to go. A strong hand fight from Raney to end the match, but no points to show for it. Azizli takes it, 5-1.
Raney gets put down at the 4:37 mark, 1-0 for Ali Albidhan. Low gut for Ali Albidhan hits. Ranek works hard, trying to reverse the hold, and is able to get a step pout point off the ensuing action. It’s 3-1 Ali Albidhan with 45 seconds left in the period. Raney is down 3-1 at the break. An arm drag takedown for Raney, directly into a turn, followed by an arm bar to the back and Raney gets a pin with 1:37 left on the clock.
Amoyan works to the passivity and gets the first chance on top at 4:18, up 1-0. Bey does a nice job fending off the high-gut attempt, back standing with a minute to go in the first. It’s 1-0 Amoyan at the break. Bey gets his chance on top here. He’s down 1-1 on criteria at the 2:05 mark. Bey gets low gut lock but can’t find sure footing for a lift. We are back to standing. Bey is put down a second time at 1:18. Amoyan lifts, but Bey holds it off again. 59 seconds to go. Bey needs a score. Bey jumps over the top for a flying squirrel attempt, officials are conferring, and it’s called a white paddle with a second left. The U.S. corner challenges the call, unsuccessfully, Point to Amoyan and Bey drops the match, 2-1.
Blades gets her single leg and drives it off the mat right away, 1-0. Underhook for Blades going out of bounds and she covers to take a 3-0 lead. Blades drives a single leg again but leaves a high hand and gets countered for a step out, 3-1 Blades. She’s back to the single leg and runs through for another step out, 4-1 Blades. Slick shrug for Blades and she covers both legs on the edge for a score to go up 6-1. Rinse and repeat—single leg blades going out-of-bounds. It’s another point to make it 7-1 at 3:26, which stands to the break. A shot from Skobelska, countered by blades with a knee pick takedown, 9-1. Blades steps out with 42 seconds left, 9-2. The match runs its course with Blades winning out, 9-2.
Raney goes down to forced par terre at 4:31, 1-0 Sahradian. A couple false starts from Sahradian, and we are back standing with no par terre go. That’s a good break for us. Raney pushes forward for a step out, 1-1. Raney now with his chance on top at 2:11, now leading 2-1. No points. Raney was driving hard for a gutwrench, just couldn’t land it. Raney hand-fights to the win.
Badaghimofrad gets the first chance on top, up 1-0 at 4:27. Good defense from Melelashvili. He steps over a gutwrench to give up no points. It’s 1-0 Badaghimofrad at the break. Headlock from Melelashvili to take the 4-1 lead. Badaghimofrad counters for one, to make it 4-2 for Melelashvili. Badaghimofrad snap down and goes behind for two. A straight lift and throw with no exposure going out-of-bounds, correct throw called. It’s 6-4 Badaghimofrad with just under two minutes to go. No points the rest of the match and Melelashvili loses 6-4.
Passivity against Schultz, he gets put down in forced par terre at 4:38, 1-0 for Semenov. Semenov locks up a gutwrench for two turns. Schultz reverses the second gutwrench for a point and goes into a front headlock position. No turn from Schultz. The score is 5-1 at 3:49. It’s 5-1 Semenov at the break. Schultz gets an opportunity on top at 2:19, now trailing 5-2. He runs out to his front headlock, Semenov stands up and circles out. Schultz never got to his position. Schultz is unable to find a score from neutral and falls to Semenov, 5-2.
