2025 World Championships - Greco-Roman Brackets
ZAGREB, Croatia – The Greco-Roman draw has been finalized, and complete brackets have been released, for the 2025 Senior World Championships being held this week in Croatia’s capital city.
Four Olympians lead the way for the U.S. Greco-Roman contingent—2012 Olympian Ellis Coleman at 63 kg, 2020 Olympian Alejandro Sancho at 72 kg, 2024 Olympian Kamal Bey at 77 kg and 2024 Olympian Payton Jacobson at 86 kg.
Coleman opens with 2024 Olympian Moamen Mohamed of Egypt. Of all the Americans, Coleman seems the best positioned to make a deep run based on credentials alone. His quarter-bracket is highlighted by No. 2 seed Vitalie Eriomenco of Moldova. Coleman needs two wins for a shot at Eriomenco.
Sancho and Bey each open with a past World champion and gold medal contender. Sancho is paired against 2023 World champion and 2024 World runner-up Ibrahim Ghanem of France. Bey stands opposite 2021 World champion and reigning Olympic bronze medalist Malkhas Amoyan of Armenia.
Jacobson has a favorable round one matchup against Karan Kamboj of India. A win would push Jacobson to a likely showdown with five-time age-group World champion and 2024 Olympian Aleksander Komarov of Serbia. Komarov defeated Jacobson in the first round of the Paris Olympics.
Two-time age-group World medalist Cohlton Schultz opens his fourth Senior Worlds at 130 kg with a highly respected opponent—UWW athlete Sergei Semenov (UWW), who is a 2020 Olympic bronze medalist, 2018 World champion and current European champion. Getting a win over Semenov is critical to Schultz’s medal chances. He is in the same quarter-bracket at 2024 Olympic bronze medalist, 2023 World champion and No. 1 seed Amin Mirzazadeh of Iran.
Another notable draw for the U.S. group comes at 60 kg with Pan American champion Max Black opening against two-time World bronze medalist and 2024 Olympian Aidos Sultangali of Kazakhstan.
Other U.S. entrants being drawn into the field were 2024 U17 World champion Jayden Raney at 55 kg, 2019 U20 World bronze medalist Alston Nutter at 67 kg, 2024 U23 World silver medalist Beka Melelashvili at 82 kg, and Michial Foy at 97 kg. All U.S. athletes sit in the round-of-32. Initial opponents for each U.S. athlete can be found below.
Greco-Roman is the third and final style to take the mats at Arena Zagreb. Athletes will compete in three waves over the course of the event—group one (55-77-82-130 kg) starting September 18, group two (60-72-97 kg) on September 19 and group three (63-67-87 kg) on September 20. Each bracket will be contested over a two-day stretch, running through semifinals on day one, followed by repechage and medal matches on day two.
Those seeking to follow along in real time can reference the event schedule below. Zagreb, Croatia, is in the GMT +2 time zone, which is six hours ahead of U.S. Eastern Time. USA Wrestling will provide regular updates on TheMat.com and its social media platforms throughout the event.
The Senior World Championships are being streamed live on FloWrestling.com to the U.S. market. Brackets and updated results are available on UWW Arena.
