No. 4 Oklahoma State gets road win over Arizona State, 25-11

TEMPE, Ariz. – The No. 4 Oklahoma State wrestling team defeated Arizona State, 25-11, Sunday afternoon at Desert Financial Arena in the finale of its two-dual road trip.

 

The Cowboys took seven of 10 bouts, with Landon Robideau (157), Alex Facundo (174) and Cody Merrill (197) picking up bonus points. The win improves OSU to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play, while the loss drops the Sun Devils to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12.

 

True freshman No. 2 Sergio Vega (141), in his return to his home state of Arizona, took an 8-3 win over previously unbeaten No. 30 Pierson Manville. Vega improved to 6-0 on the season, joining true freshmen teammates LaDarion Lockett and Robideau as the team leaders in wins. All three remain unbeaten in their careers. Robideau picked up his sixth win of the season over No. 24 Chance McLane for his third ranked win.

 

Merrill and Facundo both picked up their second bonus-point wins of the trip, with Facundo grabbing a major decision over Cael Valencia, and Merrill nabbing a technical fall over Maxi Acciardi for his fifth win. 

 

No. 8 Konner Doucet (HWT) also picked up his fifth win with a late takedown in the third to secure a 5-2 decision over No. 23 David Szuba, and No. 9 Zack Ryder (184) won his second consecutive bout with a 4-0 victory. 

 

No. 8 Troy Spratley (125) won a tightly contested match with No. 33 Damian Moreno, 4-1, after picking up the lone takedown of the bout in the second period. 

 

133-pounder Richard Figueroa II dropped his bout, 10-5, to No. 29 Kyler Larkin in his return to Arizona State, where he won a national title at 125 pounds in 2024.

 

Cutter Sheets (149) and Kody Routledge (165) both dropped their bouts to ranked foes.

 

Next the Cowboys head to Morgantown, West Virginia, to face No. 18 West Virginia on Sunday, December 14 at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
