USA Wrestling is proud to announce a groundbreaking milestone: for the first time, all three Olympic wrestling styles—men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s freestyle—now have a dedicated Ambassador, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Ken Honig and the Honig Family Foundation.
Honig becomes the first individual to step forward and fully fund Ambassador roles across all three international disciplines, setting a powerful example of leadership and commitment to the sport. His support not only provides vital financial resources but also mentorship and encouragement to both athletes and coaches.
“Ambassadors are a critical part of our team infrastructure,” said U.S. men’s freestyle coach Bill Zadick. “Ken has long been a supporter of our program, and his decision to invest in all three styles shows just how deeply he believes in the mission and future of USA Wrestling.”
This moment is especially historic for the Greco-Roman and women’s freestyle programs, which welcome their first Ambassadors through Honig’s support.
“We’re thrilled to have Ken as our Ambassador,” said U.S. Greco-Roman head coach Herb House. “When I stepped into this role and faced immediate funding challenges, Ken stepped up—no questions asked. That kind of generosity is rare and deeply appreciated.”
Longtime U.S. women’s freestyle head coach Terry Steiner echoed the sentiment, noting the broader impact of Ken’s support.
“Ken’s commitment to women’s freestyle is inspiring,” Steiner noted. “It’s support like this that fuels our progress as we set our sights on LA28. We are honored to welcome him as our very first Ambassador.”
USA Wrestling extends its heartfelt thanks to Honig for his vision, generosity, and leadership. His historic gift will make a lasting difference in the lives of our athletes and the future of wrestling in America.
