NEW YORK – The 2025 Bill Farrell Memorial International came to a close with an electric set of men’s freestyle finals on Saturday night at the New York Athletic Club. 2024 Olympian Mason Parris returned to the mats with a gold medal effort at 125 kg after taking several months away from the sport.

Parris, a 2023 World bronze medalist, fought through a 10-1 decision over top high school heavyweight prospect Coby Merrill in the championship match. Parris separated in the back half of the second period with a five-point suplex going off the mat. He finished with a 3-0 record, earning two technical falls and combining to outscore his opponents 30-1.

Earning the Outstanding Wrestler award was 65 kg champion Bo Bassett, who bonused his way to four wins and the gold medal. He took the championship match by 15-5 technical fall over 2021 U20 World bronze medalist and three-time NCAA All-American Beau Bartlett. Bassett is a two-time age-group World medalist for Team USA and is committed to wrestle collegiately at Virginia Tech.

The U.S. collected eight-of-10 golds, with a few notable results. Austin DeSanto picked up a 2-1 win over two-time World bronze medalist and Olympian Bekhbayar Erdenebat of Mongolia at 61 kg. 2022 U17 World silver medalist and two-time NCAA All-American Tyler Kasak edged U.S. National Team member Ian Parker by a point at 70 kg. Marcus Coleman stepped over a gutwrench to pin Parker Keckeisen at 86 kg.

Other Americans to top the podium were 2017 U17 World champion Will Lewan at 74 kg, 2019 U20 Pan American champion Daniel Braunagel at 79 kg and three-time U23 World medalist Jacob Cardenas at 92 kg. Notably, Cardenas competed at 92 kg and 97 kg, finishing with a gold and a silver.

International champions were Caleb Smith of Puerto Rico at 57 kg and Yaraslau Slavikouski of Belarus at 97 kg. Both were NCAA All-Americans, Smith at Nebraska and Slavikouski at Rutgers.
